more on the mystery squash

We opened up the geode (?) squash, expecting to roast it with some beets. If the combination seems odd, you haven't seen how many beets we have. The inside turned out to be soft and tasted mostly like cucumber, so we ate them chopped up raw. I recommend them. I also recommend eating things when you don't know what they are.

Date: 2009-08-21 06:48 pm (UTC)I've been sorry to read about the East Coast farming troubles this year. I'm sad for the tomatoes. Just a function of the CSA model and smallish-scale farming, I guess. It could happen just as easily here (although too much rain in June is probably not the way that the failure would happen...)
